Elite European Forces Select Med-Eng EOD9 for Multi-Threat Blast Protection

OTTAWA, Canada – Med-Eng®, a brand of The Safariland Group, announced today that it has recently been awarded contracts totalling more than $7,000,000 to provide multi-threat blast protection equipment to elite bomb disposal technicians in four European countries. The suit and helmet ensemble offers protection and operational capabilities to frontline personnel disposing of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other explosive materials in both military and public safety operations.

With these four contract awards, defence forces and police agencies in France, Germany, Poland and Switzerland confirm their continued trust in the Med-Eng EOD® 9 bomb disposal suit and helmet system. In each case, the selection followed a rigorous technical review which recognized the overall superior performance and capabilities of this industry-leading system. The EOD 9 remains the de facto standard for bomb suits deployed across Europe, including many NATO-member countries, based on its ability to strike an optimal balance between protection, functionality and mobility.

Med-Eng Vice-President of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Rob Reynolds commented, “We are very excited to continue supporting some of the most respected military and civil security units in the world. These contracts demonstrate our end-user community’s respect and confidence in the EOD 9 platform as they continue to face explosive threats from terrorists and extremists.”

The Med-Eng brand of EOD products was acquired in September 2013 by The Safariland Group, which shares a common vision of providing life-saving protective equipment to law enforcement and military personnel. The contracts above are emblematic of the resounding support for this new relationship, as expressed by the Med-Eng customer base in more than 100 countries worldwide.
