Course Overview
In many agencies, the LE shotgun has been discontinued in favor of the patrol rifle. A 12 gauge is often considered to be the single most versatile small arm you can have ready. From contact distance to over 100 yards, the shotgun is very effective when used correctly. Improper technique and the lack of familiarization with the shotgun have led to its lack of use among agencies.
Prerequisites
The Safariland Training Group only trains law enforcement officers, military personnel and correctional personnel.
Required Equipment
- Eye, ear, elbow and knee protection
- 12 gauge shotgun with a minimum of a 5 shot magazine
- 300 rounds of birdshot or target loads
- 200 rounds of buckshot
- 100 slug rounds of ammunition
- Side saddle and ghost ring or rifle sights are optional
