Safariland™ Addresses Growing EDW Market, Introduces EDW Duty Holster Series for the Taser® X26

July 10, 2009
JACKSONVILLE, Florida

New Electrical Discharge Weapon (EDW) holster combines industry leading ALS retention with ambidextrous usage

Safariland, a BAE Systems line of business, introduces today a comprehensive line of Automatic Locking System (ALS) duty holsters for Electrical Discharge Weapons (EDWs) that provide law enforcement officers secure weapon protection with quick and easy access.

Offered in seven model configurations with different belt mounting options, each of the new EDW duty holsters feature Safariland’s industry leading ALS design for secure weapon retention without straps or snaps to manipulate. The ALS release is ambidextrous and intuitive, and allows for strongside as well as cross draw carry. Designed specifically to fit the Taser® X26, the new EDW holsters offer a closed bottom with drain hole to protect the cartridge and automatically reactivate the safety on the Taser® X26 when reholstering. Additionally, the holster is deisgned to protect the top portion of the X26 from abrasion and impact. Many of the new models are also ambidextrous for added flexibility.

Both the Model 6310 and Model 6315 holsters feature Safariland’s Universal Belt Loop (UBL) for wear on a 2” (50mm) or 2.25” (58mm) uniformed equipment belt.  The Model 6310 is a standard-ride design and the Model 6315 is a 1.5” (38mm) belt-drop version.  The Model 6317 comes standard with the patented Model 567BL injection-molded belt loop for 1.5”-1.75” belt widths, yet will accommodate any of the additional six 567BL options that are available.

The Safariland Model 6312 ALS EDW holster is available with a clip so that accessories do not need to be removed from the rig in order to remove the holster.  The Model 745BL clip will pass a Level I Retention pull test and fits belts from 1.5” (38mm) to 2.25” (58mm).  All EDW holsters are designed for ambidextrous use, but future models will also be available in specifically right and left hand versions.  The Model 6318 EDW holster offers increased versatility by employing an injection-molded, contoured paddle, allowing officers the ability to use it without having to remove the belt.

Also available are two tactical leg versions, the Model 6334 ALS EDW Holster with 6004 Leg Shroud and the Model 6335 ALS EDW Holster with 6005 Leg Shroud.  They both feature the leg harness, double leg strap and leg shroud with mounting holes for optional accessories. The Model 6335 also features the quick-release detachable leg harness.

The new ALS EDW duty holsters are offered in a variety of finishes and colors. All are available in STX Tactical, foliage green, OD green and flat dark earth brown, while the Model 6310, Model 6315, Model 6317 and Model 6318 are also available in STX Plain, STX Basket and STX Hi-Gloss.
